STRICT PARENTING? MERIT AND DEMERITS

Strict parenting, also known as authoritarian parenting, involves setting high expectations for behavior and enforcing rules and consequences rigorously. The merits of strict parenting include clear boundaries and rules, which can lead to children feeling secure and safe. Children of strict parents may also be more self-disciplined and responsible, and may perform better academically.

However, strict parenting also has several potential downsides. Children of strict parents may have difficulty expressing themselves and may have a harder time developing their own sense of autonomy and self-reliance. They may also be more prone to anxiety, depression and other emotional problems. Additionally, children raised in a strict parenting environment may struggle to develop the ability to think for themselves and make good decisions, which may be detrimental in their future lives.

It's important to note that strict parenting can be effective when balanced with warmth and affection, which helps children feel valued and loved. But when parenting is only strict, it can be harmful to the children's emotional and mental well-being
